Winter Lights
Hello Friends, and welcome back to my blog! Today I am sharing my layout inspired by the Stick It Down January 2022 double page sketch - it's hard to believe it is the start of a new year again!
And here is the sketch:
This layout documents the memories from a Christmas Illumination Walk we attended in the Advent season.
I wanted the colours to harmonise with the the photos, so I opted for colours that are not traditionally Christmassy.
It's quite unusual for me to opt for such a crazy array of vivid colours on a Christmnas layout, but it fitted the experience I was documenting perfectly! Also, I have been scrapbooking with traditional Autumn and Christmas colours for several months now, so it was a lovely change to bring those bright and vivid colours out from their place of hybernation!
I replaced the floral garlands on the sketch with two elongated clusters of diecut snowflakes, which I cut from various scrap pieces from the Vicky Boutin Colorstudy collection. I am still utterly in love with this collection, and this was such a fantastic way of using up my end-bits and remnants - not one tiny bit went to waste!
I cut three different snowflake shapes in three or four different sizes and several different colours; I alternated the shapes and colours randomly, placing the larger ones at the bottom, and layering the smaller ones on top, popping them up with dimensional foam tape. I also curled the tips of the flakes upwards, to add dimension to the clusters.
I had to re-shuffle the placement of the photos, as I used an A4 format, which meant that I didn't have room for the title on the left side. So I popped it onto the snowflake cluster on the right hand side - as it was balck and white, it contrasted really well with the colours of the snowflakes!
I completed the page by tucking a tag for journalling behind one of the photos, and scattering some white and silver snowflake sequins around the page, to add a bit of sparkle.
I hope you like my layout, and find some inspiration in it! Thanks for visiting my blog, and don't forget to play along with our sketch challenge this month at Stick It Down!
Happy New Year, everyone!
