the one without a title

Hello, and welcome back to my blog! Today I will be working with the Stick It Down September 2020 double page sketch:

I made two layouts with this sketch, as I didn't like how the first one came out. I mean I did like the layout, I just didn't like how I completely miscalculated the measurements, resulting in the diagonal stripes not quite reaching all the way from top to bottom:

So, learning from my mistakes, I made the second layout:

I wanted to keep the background simple, as with all the patterned paper strips, diagonal orientation, photos and embellishments this layout was likely to get rather busy. I used Bazzill card stock for the background - this particular colour is called Vanilla; I started to use this quite a lot recently - I have always found white card stock too jarring for my eyes, but this shade is just right for me. Also, it goes quite well with both cool and warm tones, so it's pretty versatile.

I used mostly my Simple Stories Vintage Great Escape collection for this layout - I have been using it a lot in recent months, as it is perfect for my lifestyle and for my photos. I matted the photos on vellum, which provides a subtle separation between the paper strips and the photos.

For the horizontal line of embellishment cluster I used some larger elements - I tried to space these out, and add smaller pieces in between. As this layout is part of a bigger story, it didn't really need a title, so I replaced it with journaling.

Hope you like my layout. You can see how it came together on my YouTube channel. Be sure to keep checking back to the Stick It Down blog for more inspiration throughout the month. Thanks for visiting!
