Photo Op
Hello, and welcome back to my YouTube channel! Today I am sharing my layout created with the Stick It Down August 2021 double page sketch.
Here is the sketch:
And here is the completed layout:
I was really looking forward to working with this sketch, the right hand side was promising to be a real challenge! I often have to mix horizontal and vertical photos on a layout, and it's always a bit of a conundrum. I usually go for a similar arrangement, except that I line my photos up in the middle, which creates a bit of a windmill effect.
This month I managed to stay relatively true to the sketch, although I did have to make some adjustments. I ended up using a larger horizontal photo on the left side, and three instead of four photos on the right. I replaced the fourth photo with a journaling card, which was perfect.
Another thing I changed was the central circular journaling element in the centre of the photos on the right. I was really worried about adding something that would go over all four photos, but I found the perfect piece - a square acrylic piece from Bramblefox! I liked that it was square instead of round (I'm always cautious about mixing too many geometric shapes) and with the right backing it stood out just the right amount! It ended up being the perfect piece for the title!
I selected my papers from three different Quirky Kits scrapbooking kits - I have been so busy lately with other projects that I have been neglecting my subscription boxes! It was the perfect way of making a start on my latest box, and the papers coordinated so well with the previous kits! I used papers from the Brave and Bold collection from Amy Tan and from the Care Free collection from Heidi Swapp. I really like the orange details in the Amy Tan collection!
I added the three embellishment clusters to the page - I wanted to leave these relatively simple, so I used some fussy-cut butterflies, punched circle shapes, phrase stickers and some more acrylic embellishment pieces to the clusters. I also added some gems, as I fancied a change from the usual ink splatters. To finish the page, I added a sentiment sticker on the left - not so much as the title, but as a summing up of the day's event, really.
I hope you like my layout. If you want to see how it came together, you can find my process video here.
