Hello, Weird Girl!

Hello, and welcome back to my blog! It's sketch reveal day over at Stick It Down today, and this month I am featured designer for the double page team! Here is the layout I created with this month's double page sketch:

And here is the sketch itself:

For this layout I used my February Quirky Kits kit, which features a lot of new releases from Simple Stories...

Truth to be told, this month's sketch was a bit of a challenge - a background made out of geometric shapes always is for me! But I was quite pleased with how my layout turned out in the end!

I ended up cutting the equilateral triangle shape out of white cardstock in different sizes, and used these as templates. This way I knew exactly what size triangles to cut out from the different patterned papers.

Once the triangles were adhered to the cardstock (easier said than done - it took me quite a while), I arranged the photos on the background. I used a photo and a journaling card for the horizontal photos on the left side, and replaced the four vertical rectangular photos with six square photos.

I backed the photos up with coordinating paper pieces, and created the three embellishment clusters. My cat is a little old lady, so it made perfect sense to use those adorable pink doilies on the layout! I included phrase stickers in each clusters from the Simple Stories Hello Today sticker book. I find the phrases in this sticker book just perfect to record for pandemic memory keeping - they acknowledge the difficulties of the current atmosphere without being too pessimistic...

I struggled with the title a bit, but made it work with what I had in my kit in the end!

Hope you like my layout... You can find the process video here. Don't forget to check back to the SID blog throughout the month for more inspiration! Thanks for visiting!
