Wander, Always

Hello and welcome back to my blog! Today I will be talking you through how I created my layout using the Stick It Down August single page sketch:

And here is my completed layout:

I know, not the greatest watercolour work! I have been so inspired by all the lovely watercolour backgrounds I've come across, I really wanted to try my hands in creating my own. I also wanted to try out creating a patterned background using masking fluid.

I trialed using plastic stencils, as well as ones I made out of card stock using my die-cutting machine. Even though the design options with the latter one were more versatile, the card stock wasn't very durable. I also found that I had to work pretty quickly, as the masking fluid dried in no time, adhering the stencil to the paper. When lifted, the stencil then pulled chunks of the dried masking fluid off the paper, resulting in the 'blobby' areas in the design.

For embellishment I used wood veneer and chipboard diamond shapes from an old Studio Calico kit. I didn't find any suitable alpha stickers in my stash, so I cut out the title from gold foiled card stock using my Silhouette Portrait. I completed the layout by tucking some tags behind the photos and scattering a few sequins, as suggested by the sketch.

Hope you like my layout, despite its imperfections! You can look at how this layout came together on my YouTube process video. Don't forget to check back to the SID blog throughout the month for more inspiration! Thanks for visiting!
