The Good Life

Hello, and welcome back to my blog! Today I am working with the August double page sketch from the Stick It Down blog:

And here is the layout I made:

To tell the truth, I have created a traditional 12" x 24" layout, but my kids weren't happy for it to be published on social media, because of the photos I used, so I had to make another layout. Rather than going for another traditional one, I decided to make a double page layout in one of my journals.

There was only one problem: I had too many photos, and not enough space for them. So I decided to do a fold-out layout. The photos above show the layout when the flaps are folded out on the side. This is what the layout looks like with the flaps folded in:

I used the Flora No3 collection from Carta Bella for this layout, which was perfect for the subject. I used simple patterns and small embellishment clusters, so that the photos wouldn't get swamped. I completed it with sequins, coordinating in colours, to add a bit of pizazz to the pages.

There is not much more to say about this super-quick and super-simple layout. If you want to see how I created the fold-out pages, you can see my process video here. A bit of warning - be careful about layering too many patterned paper on top of each other, especially if they are super-good quality, thick paper (like the ones I used), as this might create bulk in your journal.

Don't forget to check back to the Stick It Down blog throughout the month for more inspiration each week! Thanks for visiting!
