You Are Awesome

Hello and welcome to my blog! For today's layout I have used the Stick It Down August double page sketch. I'm afraid I am not a big fan of using large circles on a layout (they don't tend to work out very well for me), so I ended up making quite a few adaptations to this sketch. But that's OK, sketches are there to inspire us and to help us along - they can be used as much or as little as feels right...

You can look at how I created this layout on my YouTube channel.

I was really looking forward to use the new Boys Rule collection from Cocoa vanilla Studio. Such a beautiful line and so versatile - it can be easily adapted for a feminine layout with a bit of help. Although my daughter is quite a tomboy, and the photos are quite dynamic, the layout didn't come out stereo-typically masculine.

I love that star patterned paper, but I knew that it would be too busy for the background, so I decided to use it on the two sides of the double page spread. The watercolour patterned paper is from the Wild at Heart collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio; an all-time favourite of mine - I am carefully saving the remaining few papers I still have of this pattern, and only bring it out to scrap special photos...

I have also used bits and bobs from the Cocoa Vanilla Studio You Rock collection, the Pink Fresh Studio Escape The Ordinary collection and the Bella Boulevard Make Your Mark line.

Because the star patterned paper is quite busy and the four photos take up quite a large proportion of the double 8.5" x 11" layout, I have kept the embellishment quite simple. I scattered some die cut and chip board stars on the watercolour background and I created two tiny embellishment clusters - one for the quote and one for the journaling.

I matted the photos on contrasting patterned paper and completed the layout with some Heidi Swapp Color Shine ink splatters.

Hope you like my layout. Don't forget to check out my YouTube video as well as the the other layouts created by the design team. Thanks for visiting!
