ADVENTure 2016
Hi Everyone! It's double page layout time on the Stick It Down blog again! I decided to do a festive layout, as it is finally December! This is the sketch I have used:
First, let me give you the background story about this layout, so it doesn't seem so random. Each year we celebrate the Advent period by taking a day trip on each of the Advent weekends. The run-up to Christmas is such a busy time for everyone, and it's so easy to get caught-up in the hustle and bustle. So we created this little tradition of our own, and we stick to it every single year (otherwise I don't think I would actually see my kids during the month of December ;-)). We might visit a National Trust location, or might go to a Christmas fair in another city... but the main thing is, that we are together and we make time to listen to each other. Indeed, my fondest Christmas memories have been created during these outings...
But back to my layout: I've kept the background nice and simple this time. I wanted the focus to be on the photo and embellishment clusters. I've followed the sketch for the orientation and general layout design, but I've omitted the stitching. I've replaced the floral embellishment with festive die-cuts and a few wood veneer pieces.
I couldn't find any alpha stickers i'd have liked for this layout in my stash, so I used my Silhouette Portrait to cut the title. It was a bit tricky to adhere the letters to the layout, especially the smaller ones, but it was worth doing in the end. This way the title matches the red details on the rest of the layout perfectly! The font I used is from The Cut Shoppe on Etsy.
I've placed the title so it connects the two embellishment clusters. As a final touch, I used some gold Color Shine to splatter across the two pages to guide the eye across the layout.
Hope you like my double layout. To find out what the rest of the team has created with the December sketch, please visit the Stick It Down blog! Hope you have a jolly and stress free run-up to Christmas!
