Paper Issues Weekend Crop (March 17-19)

I managed to create some layouts inspired by this weekend crop - not as many as I would have liked, as time was very tight. I am currently trying stash bust my old stock and working with the Like For Ever March kit, so the layouts were a bit of a mix and match.

Firstie Friday

I've used all old stock for this challenge. First and last day of primary school. A simple layout, focusing on the story primarily, not so much on the design.

Spring Salad

Use three or more different manufacturer's product on one page

This is a his-and-hers double layout, to go in different scrapbooks. I used products mostly from the Like For Ever March kit, but added the background paper (which is an older MME paper) and wood veneers.

Even though this kit is very girly with lots of flowers and soft pastels, the small floral heart pattern is repeated in pink and in black and white on the Maggie Holmes papers and allowed me to create two very similar layouts, one more masculine, one more feminine. I The cut-apart sheet also allowed variation for this.

Her Layout:

4 Leaf Clover

create a layout using multiples of four

On this layout I used four photos, four patterned paper, four frames, four hearts and four enamel dot clusters.

Apologies for the naff photo quality of this layout - by the time I realised it, I had run out of daylight.

The story behind this layout starts with recent visit of ours to Tatton Park. As customary, I wanted to take some close-up photos of the kids at a nice area with a nice neutral background. The agreement between us is that the more they cooperate with the smiles, the quicker I finish with the photos I like and the quicker we can get to the silly photos that they like. This works variably depending on several factors, such as tiredness, mood, other visitors, sunlight, etc. But this particular day was a good day. Until my husband decided to sabotage me by bombing the photos... He wanted to prove that he can still make them laugh with this silly trick. And apparently he can. So in the end we ended up with some great photos with lovely smiles, perfect for the nicey-nicey layouts (see above) and these silly photos, which document so much more about our relationship, our rapport and the 'right now'.

I have used a medley of supplies on this layout. I used pp from Shimelle's Little by Little 6"x6" paper pad, the background paper is from the new Dear Lizzy 12"x12" paper pad. I used a number of old and new embellishments - an attempt at stash busting.

The bear isn't just random on this layout - it does have relevance to the story.

The Color of Spring

a monochromatic challenge

It has to be a challenge to induce me to scrap a monochromatic layout, because it massively freaks me out. I generally end up scrapping on a b&W photo on white card stock, using mostly embellishments and very little pp.

Another attempt at stash busting, with using up some old stock. Mostly Crate Paper from and old Maggie Holmes line and an ancient baby line. As the photo itself is from the 1970s, I figured it didn't really matter how contemporary the embellishment is. Most of the stamped images were done with the new Heidi Swapp Magnolia Jane stamp set.

My loves

This layout was was for the March Sketchy Saturday challenge. I was also inspired by Glitter Girl's latest adventure, which was about using a stamped image in the middle of two photos. I rotated the original sketch and stamped and heat embossed the title onto a circular journal tag. I moved the journaling onto the opposite side of the photos, spreading out a bit more on the page.

I have used various pp on this layout: the background paper is an old MME foiled paper, the strips are either from the March Like For Ever kit or leftover scraps. The journaling tags are from an older Paige Evans line. I kept the embellishment quite simple on this page with some Studio Calico hearts and stamped Heidi Swapp florals. I figured the page was busy enough, I didn't want to completely overwhelm it with masses of embellishments.
