About those Autumn layouts...

... This is what you ought to know about me: I love creating layouts. I would love to show them to the world. But I find the process of it rather difficult and tiresome. Taking photos means clearing some surface in my work area and waiting for daylight (which i only see on the weekends at this time of the year); then edit them, then upload them, then write a blog post about them... very time consuming...

So that is how it took me this long to finally post some of my autumn layouts... I really wanted to do this before the end of November, but I ended up running out of time and in the end it had to be postponed until now, because preparing for Christmas with my family and recording it all in my journal took priority over everything else...

So, finally, here are the layouts that I have managed to finish and process:

(I have used five collections mainly for my layouts this Autumn:

Shimelle - Go Now Go

Simple Stories - Hello Fall

Pebbles - Warm & Cozy

Pebbles - Woodland Forest

Bo Bunny - Take a Hike)

Conker Fabulous

This photo was taken back in September, when we went conkering with Funny, who has embraced this crazy love of mine of all things autumnal and seems to enjoy the utterly pointless exercise of collecting conkers just as much as I do... ;-)

This is a super-simple layout. I cut the tree shape out of white card stock with my Silhouette machine and I used the negative image for the layout. I used papers mostly from the Bo Bunny Take a Hike 6"x6" paper pad. I also used some paper scraps from Shimelle's Go Now Go collection. The journaling tag was made with the stamp from Shimelle's Go Now Go collection. And a bit of Mr Huey to complete the layout - and oldie, but goodie, and a returning favourite at this time of year...

Hello Autumn, Hello Family!

The patterned paper for this layouts from Pebbles... it's my new all-time favourite autumn paper. One of those that you don't ever want to cut into or stick anything onto it... you just want to look at it and run your fingers across it, especially on bad days, as therapy. One of those annoying ones, btw, with a fabulous design on each side, making it extremely hard to decide which one to work with... The other side is red (yes RED!!!!) wood grain pattern, yum. And that is exactly why I still have no less then five spare sheets of this pp stashed away safely in me craft room. If there is ever a shortness in supply of wood grain 12"x12" pp, there is a good chance it has something to do with my partiality towards wood grain ;-)

Anyhow, kept it pretty simple - I wanted the background paper to show and the photo to be interpreted easily as it isn't the greatest one in any case... so I didn't want to overwhelm the page with too many layers and embellishments...

Autumn Fabulous

This layout was inspired by this video from Irit Landgraf... bit of a fail on my part, but the girl can only try... Mixed media has never been my strength, but I was so inspired by her page. The story behind this layout is that my daughter and I spent a whole evening painting those leaves and it was surprisingly relaxing (her enthusiasm about life tends to overflow...) - definitely a memory-worthy moment.

Leaves

Another not-quite-successful attempt at mixed media, this time inspired by Wilna Furstenberg... I've used her printables and cutfiles from Autumn 2015 as well as Autumn 2016

Fall Fabulous

This layout is mostly Simple Stories, from the Hello Fall collection. I love everything about this collection - the vibrant autumnal colours, the pale wood grain, the warm, yet light tone of the backgrounds, the whimsical embellishments... I used the 6"x12" print with the phrases on the one side and plain wood grain on the other. Minimal journaling, to keep things simple. The photo I used is one taken of my daughter, throwing leaves at the camera. It was taken on one of our outings, which ended up such a fabulous day and whereas the photo might not be the best, or easy to interpret, it is a true reflection of her crazy, enthusiastic, energetic personality...
